As part of double XP weekend, I’ve been leveling a powertech. Because I played my mercenary as mostly light side, I’m playing my powertech as pretty damn evil, to see a different side of the story. I’m also playing evil because, knowing what’s to come, I’m a little jaded.
So, here I am, near the end of Chapter 1 (I think), killing some Jedi schmuck. After he croaks, there’s his padawan to deal with. Last time, I spared her. Aren’t I nice? This time, nope, dead.
Mako yells at me. “She was no threat to us.” Um, Mako, you have no idea. Normally, I would agree with your moralizing. However, having been down this road before, I know full well that the padawan is going to hound us for the rest of the damn story, and I would regret saving her every time she went after us or sent someone after us. Not going to be bit in the ass by my own niceness, not again.
I have no illusions that some other moron will come after us at the same appropriate story points, probably for killing that idiot padawan, but at least I’ll be bit in the ass by my bad deeds instead of by my good deeds. Somehow, I find that easier to stomach.
